Queens County Farm

Kennon Kay is a normal twenty-something New Yorker. She lives on a normal Brooklyn street in a normal walk-up apartment. Her commute to work is long, crowded, unpredictable and filled with traffic. All quite normal. But normal ends when Kennon enters the gates to her job. There, inside those gates, the wail of noise, of sirens, horns, jackhammers and trains are replaced by the high-pitched chirp of chickens, the grunting of pigs, and the sway of the breeze through the acres of green that make up the Queens County Farm Museum. Here Kennon Kay is Director of Agriculture; the farm’s 47 acres, her office.

If you’ve never seen it the Queens County Farm is a great place to visit for the day, especially if you have kids. They’re guaranteed to have a blast. Check out their website for hours, tour info and a calendar of events.

Mary J. Blige’s Amazing Rendition of the National Anthem at Game 6 of the World Series

This was by far the best rendition of the National Anthem that I’ve ever seen live.

Obama Branded Heroin Hitting the Streets of New York

obama_heroinCops in upstate New York broke up a drug ring that was allegedly selling Obama branded heroin.  I expected a rise in kids named Barack or something, but come on, Obama branded heroin?

Investigators arrested five suspects for their alleged roles in the narcotics distribution activity. The branding of illicit drugs is a favorite of pushers, who have previously sold bin Laden heroin, Harry Potter Ecstasy, bricks of Teletubbies cocaine, and green-tinted crack in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day.

Damn, these guys should open an ad agency.
