Twitter Being Used to Find Missing 14-Year-Old McKenzie “Kenzie” Church

A desperate father has turned to the Twitter community to hopefully help find his missing daughter.  If you’ve been on Twitter at all today there’s a good possibility that you’ve seen this post in your timeline, “PLEASE RETWEET: @genochurch‘s 14 yr old daughter is missing http://tinyurl.com/5yodvb.”

The second link goes to a blog post with information about a 14-year-old missing girl who may be travelling with a 17-year-old male companion.

It’s interesting to see how someone is trying to harness the power of a community that prides itself on sharing information in a lightning fast format.

According to local authorities familiar with the case, McKenzie is being listed as a runaway because of her age.  It’s true no one knows the entire story but it’s interesting to see a father reach out to a new medium in such a way.  It seems that the Twitter community is eager to embrace this search and keep the retweet going.

No matter what the final story is, I think we can all hope for a safe and happy ending to this search.
